mcmutton asked: Hey Arabelle! I'm sorry if this is gonna be super obvious, but I'm a complete beginner in the world of skincare. I've had a look through your current recommendations and tag, but other than Garnier, most other brands are hard to get in Aus. Can you recommend some other basic (mid-range) products? Should I use an eye cream after removing eye makeup, or just regular moisturiser on my face? Do I need to use cleanser after makeup removal? How often should I do the cleanse-tone-moisturise routine? TY
Hi!
1. I don’t know whats available to you so I can’t recommend things that might be useful I haven’t already mentioned. :/
2. Regular moisturizer is fine.
3. Yes. I triple cleanse myself but that’s not necessary. I do encourage cleansing after makeup removal though.
4. Twice a day.
There are definitely online resources available for ordering these products in Australia… If you know where to look. I think people can be a little deterred given products appear cheaper in US dollars, but the Aus dollar is currently in the toilet so things are always going to look a little more expensive in AUD. That being said Sephora Australia is reasonable for some products but a total rip off for others: proceed with caution.
Anyway, here’s a quick guide for where you can purchase some of @arabellesicardi‘s recommendations.
Paula’s Choice: Literally just Paula’s Choice Australia. I order from here a lot: it doesn’t usually take more than a business week for anything to arrive.
Dr G: I ordered the Brightening Peeling Gel from Cosmetic-Love last week. It hasn’t arrived yet and I haven’t used the website before, but the reviews for the service are good. They don’t have a wide range of Dr G but they have A LOT of other K-beauty brands.
Cosrx: Probably Cosmetic-Love for this as well.
Asian beauty in general: This Reddit list for retailers is quite a good reference. Not every store will ship to Australia but a lot will. You also kind of have to trawl through and see which stores carry the most of which brand.
Glossier: No dice… Unless maybe you use one of those buying service things? It hurts me as much as it hurts you.
Sunday Riley: Mecca. I know, I know. It looks like it’s so much more money. It’s not. Also they’re still stocking Artemis soooooooo.
First Aid Beauty: Beautybay. Sephora (Australia)… There’s probably more.
Nip+Fab: Priceline (a collective sigh from all my fellow Australians with this one - probably the easiest and cheapest to find).
Freeset Mask: This is my personal mission at the moment. It’s currently sold out on Beautius, though they are available on Pink Seoul… But it’s expensive.
Hope that helps!
